OVERVIEW

Renault India, the subsidiary of the French automobile giant has stunned the world by unveiling its latest hatchback model named as Kwid . The company has been working on this model from a long time under the code name 'XBA'. Now, it has officially pulled off covers over its production model, which looks very attractive. The manufacturer claims that this soon to be launched hatchback will carry a starting price tag of just around Rs. 3.0 lakh (ex-showroom). At the same time, it also stated that this model will feature some of the first-in-class features like driver side airbag (optional), a navigation system and a digital instrument cluster along with chrome accents on AC vents. . The manufacturer has not revealed much about its features or specifications, which is increasing the curiosity among car enthusiasts. According to the sources, this yet to be launched vehicle is going to be introduced with an 800cc petrol engine under the hood with 0.8 ltr engine. We can expect that this mill may produce a power in the range of 45 to 50bhp. As for the transmission, company's sources have confirmed that they are working on AMT , which makes it even competitive in the segment.
Exterior
Renault KWID has some lines on it and it is as same as on the datson go but now gets , flared wheel arches,body cladding and a forward leaning stance giving it a muscular appearance. It is the first car in the Indian market to debut the French automaker’s honeycomb grille and new headlight design. It gets an aggressive front bumper design that extends outwards and in the top spec variants houses the fog lamps.
The side profile reveals the heavily flared wheel arches and forward leaning stance. The windscreen sharply rakes towards the rear. There is plastic cladding at the base of the doors which are the colour of the wheel arches and basically serve the purpose of rub rails.

INTERIOR

The internal cabin of this upcoming hatchback looks more spacious with good headroom and shoulder space . The vehicle, which is disclosed by the company has a dual tone color scheme along with red accents on seats. The fabric used for the seats looks velvety than a good quality cloth. Its dashboard is made using plastic material and is housed with a few equipments. It is the first vehicle in its class to have a digital instrument cluster, which is an added advantage.

TOP SPEED & ACCELERATION

It reaches a maximum speed of about 120 kmph, and it takes 20 seconds to touch the speed 100kmph.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

This compact hatchback might come with  a central locking system through which, all the doors can be locked and unlocked just with the push of a button in the key. Airbags might be an optional feature in top end models , ABS is not included in any Varrients . Other security aspects that one can expect in this stunning vehicle is the high mount stop lamp, robust body structure with crumple zones, bright headlamps, seat belts for all occupants and a few other such features.

MILEAGE

The manufactures argue that KWID got a mileage of 26 kmpl in highway.
