Volkswagen Tiguan
The Volkswagen Tiguan has been in the news for quite a while with speculations about the crossover’s possible launch in India. In fact, the speculations have been fuelled by the spy shots of the Tiguan being tested on Indian roads in the past.Look at the success of the Audi Q3, BMW or even the Renault Duster and you know that India surely loves its SUVs and compact crossovers, but Volkswagen has tasted little success in this regard. It has still gone ahead and introduced the latest avatar of the Touareg in India and the Tiguan could follow suit too - if not for outright sales, at least for establishing the brand image of VW’s robust SUVs, in time for the introduction of the upcoming Taigun compact crossover.
The Tiguan SUV is equipped with touchscreen satellite navigation system, Bluetooth, MDI media interface with leads for iPhone and USB, CD/DVD player, SD card and digital Radio. The steering wheel, gear level and handbrake are wrapped in steering wheel, while the music controls are mounted on steering wheel. The rear seats can be fully foldable to increase luggage capacity from 470 to 1,510 litres.
The Volkswagen Tiguan will come with a choice of two engines. While the petrol version will get the 1.4l TSI engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission gearbox, which is capable of developing 130PS. The oil burner will get the 2.0L TDI motor that returns two states of power output- 140PS and 170PS, and the engine will come mated to a six-speed DSG gearbox.
